Oga At The Top’s Wife Set To Release Song Titled “Oga At The Top”!

Foluke Shem-Obafiaye is the wife of Shem Obafaiye, whose “Oga At The Top” saga went viral some time last year. Shem is now the Oyo State (formerly Lagos State) Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
His wife, Foluke is a gospel singer and daughter of  Late Prophet Timothy O. Obadare. She had an interview recently with Joan Omionawele of The Nigerian Tribune, where she revealed that she will be releasing her album soon, and one of the songs in it is titled “Oga At The Top”. She also disclosed how her family was able to make it through that difficult period.  Foluke claims her husband has 3 masters degree and that he actually knew the NSCDC website...but that if he had said it, he would have lost his job.
Read the interview;
When exactly did you start your singing career?
I started when I was 13 years old.
Was your father a singer?
No. My father, the late Prophet Timothy O. Obadare, also had a band called Wosem International  Band. We used to go from one place to another; even when Baba Obadare  used to go for crusades, I used to go with him to sing and minister.
You are set to release an album this Saturday.
I decided to release the album the last Saturday of March, at the Genesis Hall in Ibadan because March means a lot to me. It’s a very peculiar  month for me. This is the month Baba Obadare died, and March too was the month my husband’s issue of ‘Oga at the top’ started. In fact, it is a  special month.
It sounds like an emotional month for you
Yes, it is.
What are the tracks on the album about?
The first track is entitled Meet me at the top. In fact, when Baba Obadare died, I wanted to release an album as a tribute to him, but I couldn’t. I just  pulled myself together, knowing fully well that a lot of people will  release albums and I wasn’t myself till after his burial. So, I said to  myself that I would release an album after a year.
But after two months, I started having dreams and seeing myself  singing to multitudes and the song had to do with the ‘Oga at the top’  issue. The last time I dreamt about this, I woke up. I could remember  the chorus of what I was singing in my dream, but I couldn’t remember  the body. I quickly picked up my pen and wrote it down.
Did you discuss releasing an album about ‘Oga at the top’ with your husband?
Yes I did.
What was his reaction?
He did not say anything.  He said he was not a singer, and it was my ministry; that I should go  ahead and do whatever I want to do and he would give me all the support I needed.
During that period (Oga at the top), what were the things you did as a wife to take your husband’s mind away from the media outburst?
I was praying fervently for him. That was the only thing I did because I  knew that it was only prayer that could help.  I know that when you find yourself in any situation you don’t like, it is only prayer that can  uphold you.
How was he able to overcome the setback?
He  overcame it through words of encouragement from people – ranging from  our fathers in the Lord to friends and family. A lot of people stood up  for him that time. Men of God were also interceding for him, because it  was a set-up. I’m not saying it was a set up from anybody, but from the  pit of hell, because before anything happens physically, it has been  settled spiritually. We all know that. We are not holding anybody  responsible. I am even thanking them for bringing it out. We appreciate  those who sent us prayers and even thank those who abused us. This  nation would be at the top soon. We thank them for uplifting my husband. April 16 last year, they said I went to Channels television to make  trouble with them, saying my children could not go to school and I had  requested for a transfer for them – but it was all lies.
Didn’t you go there?
That very day that they said I went to Channels, I was in the village; I was in my husband’s village with my husband for his father’s burial, and that village is a remote  village where the network transmission was bad. They call the place  Ayetoro Kiri in Kogi State; but it was on air. People started calling me from all over the world, asking me why I went there. I was shocked. I  started explaining where I was to the people who called me.
What about the reports of you not being able to go to the market out of fear?
They were all lies. We were staying at UNILAG Estate in Magodo then. At  times, in the evening, I would put on my shorts, baseball cap and go to  the market. Sometimes I would not even go in my car. I would see lots of people discussing about my husband, but it did not bother me. I would  buy whatever I wanted to buy and go back home. In fact, we were very  free. My husband would go out and come back without any disturbance. So  we did not feel bad because we knew that it was from the pit of hell. We did not even hold anyone responsible for it. That is one thing I want  you to emphasise. The only thing we did then was to pray and hold onto  God and the Lord God Almighty was able to intervene.
But he was eventually able to recognize his mistake?
What mistake?
Not knowing the NSCDC website.
Oh. When he said  ww.nscdc, it was not that he did not know it. That day, someone was  saying that it was God that saved my husband; that if he had opened his  mouth to disclose the website, it would have caused him his job and that was what my husband was trying to avoid. You know it was a live  programme; it was unfortunate that they did not play it from the  beginning. They just started the airplay from that point. It was not  that he did not know the website. How can a grown up person not know  such details? He is well educated; he has three Masters degrees. How  could he not have known the website of the Civil Defence? He did not  want to mention it and that was why he tried to push himself; but he  knew it was a live programme. I’m telling you the truth.
How did you meet your husband?
Oh my God! Please (laughs). We met in Benin when we went for a crusade.
And how long have you been married?
We got married in 1998.
When you wanted to get married to your husband, what was Baba Obadare’s reaction?
He asked me to wait while he went to enquire from God. He prayed for three days and on the third day, we were in Abuja for a crusade and that was  where he ended the prayer. It was the following day he called me and  said God had given me the go-ahead. He then asked me to call the young  man (my husband now) to meet him in Akure.
What advice do you have for both married and unmarried women?
To the unmarried women, I would advise them to be patient and to be  faithful to the Lord. Do not look at material things. That is the basic  thing destroying marriages today. And they should not compromise. They  should not base their life on another person’s own. Wait for God  patiently because God’s time is the best. Don’t say because you are 33  or 42 years old and you are getting old, so you should rush into  marriage. Even if you are 50, God’s time is the best. For the married  ones, I would still advise them to be patient, because no marriage is  free from problems. Even the so-called strong men of God, when you go to them, they will tell you that the only weapon they have is patience and prayer. When you have any problem, go on your knees. People’s marriages are suffering major setbacks because they cannot take everything to God in prayer. They have no time to pray; they don’t take their case to  God. They would rather take their cases to their father, mothers and  friends who are giving them wrong solutions to their problems.

The 10 Best Airports In The World: 2014

Curled from http://www.businessinsider.com/worlds-best-airport-awards-2014-3?op=1
Skytrax has released the results of its annual World Airport Awards and, once again, Singapore's Changi Airport has taken the top spot.
It's no surprise that Changi came out on top again. The international transit hub has incredible amenities, such as a butterfly garden, rooftop pool, movie theaters, hotels, spas, and showers — and even a four-story slide.
Skytrax based its rankings on 12.85 million customer nominations across 110 nationalities and included 410 airports worldwide. It incorporated passenger satisfaction across nearly 40 categories, including service and shopping and security and immigration.
All the airports commended last year made the 2014 list, but in a slightly different order.

10. London's Heathrow Airport
Yearly passengers: 69.4 million
Why it's awesome: Despite London Mayor Boris Johnson's concern that Heathrow gives visitors "a terrible impression of the U.K.," the overcrowded airport made it into Skytrax's top 10.
The third-busiest airport in the world in 2011, it took home the awards for Best Airport Shopping and Best Airport Terminal, for T5, which opened in 2008 after a $6.2 billion, 19-year design and construction process.
Heathrow's Skytrax review includes four or five out of five-star rankings for ease of use, flight information, public transport, security staff efficiency, and more.
9. Vancouver International Airport
Yearly passengers: 18 million
Why it's awesome: The least busy airport in Skytrax's top 10, Vancouver International offers visitors a large collection of Pacific Northwest native art.
Skytrax named Vancouver International the Best Airport in North America for the fourth year in a row in 2013, a streak that justifies the $1.4 billion that the airport spent on a recent expansion. It also ranked top for staff.
Volunteers, known as green coat ambassadors, help travelers get to where they're going.
8. Zurich Airport
Yearly passengers: 24.8 million
Why it's awesome: The largest international airport in Switzerland, Zurich Airport was significantly expanded in 2003 with a new terminal and an underground automated train called the Skymetro, which shuttles travelers.
Located seven miles north of Zurich's city center, this airport also ranked highly in Skytrax's airport security processing, immigration, and dining categories.
The airport offers a porter service for which travelers pay a fee to have their bag picked up from anywhere in the airport and delivered to their final destination.
7. Beijing Capital International Airport
Yearly passengers: 78.7 million
Why it's awesome: Already beyond its 78-million-passenger annual capacity, Beijing Capital is the busiest airport in Asia and the second busiest in the world, trailing only Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson.
That's why the city is building another airport, one that will be bigger than New York's JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark airports combined.
Capital's tallest building, Terminal 3, came in eighth for Best Airport Terminal. It opened in 2008, in time for the Beijing Olympics.
Its Langham Place Beijing hotel was named the second-best airport hotel in the world.
6. Tokyo International Airport — aka Haneda Airport
Yearly passengers: 62.6 million
Why it's awesome: With a third international terminal opened in 2010, Haneda can accommodate 90 million passengers annually.
More construction is in the works. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced plans to expand the new terminal with eight more gates, more parking, and a hotel by March 2014.
The airport won Skytrax's award for World's Best Domestic Airport, and was commended for shopping, security processing, and cleanliness.
5. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
Yearly passengers: 49.8 million
Why it's awesome: Schiphol opened in 1916 as a military airfield and has transformed into one of the busiest airports in the world.
While travelers wait for departure, they can enjoy a massage, play a game of poker at the casino, and catch up on some reading in the airport library.
According to Skytrax, Schiphol also has excellent dining, shopping, and leisure options.

4. Hong Kong International Airport

Yearly passengers: 53.3 million
Why it's awesome: Located less than five flying hours from half of the world's population, Hong Kong's airport is one of the busiest.
It was named the best airport for dining and baggage delivery, and ranked among the top airports for cleanliness and shopping.
In March 2012, the airport added a third runway to increase its capacity.
Hong Kong International offers a nine-hole golf course — a great place for travelers to spend long layovers.

3. Munich Airport

Yearly passengers: 37.8 million
Why it's awesome: Germany's second-busiest airport features aesthetically pleasing terminals on the walk to the gates. Many of the walls and ceilings are made of glass, making the airport feel large and open.
The airport, a 45-minute train ride from Munich's city center, was named the best in Europe and commended for its dining and shopping options.

2. Incheon International Airport

Yearly passengers: 39.2 million
Why it's awesome: Incheon, the largest airport in South Korea, serves passengers on more than 70 airlines, and is one of three airports to receive a five-star overall rating from Skytrax.
Every year from 2005 to 2012 it was rated the world's top airport by Airports Council International.
The young airport — it opened in March 2001 — is home to a museum of Korean culture, and has excellent rankings for cleanliness, external views, rest areas, Internet access, and local-food choices.

1. Singapore's Changi Airport

Yearly passengers: 46.5 million
Why it's awesome: Changi is designed to alleviate the stress of travel, and it offers passengers the opportunity to enjoy lots of greenery, an outdoor pool, and a butterfly garden.
For those who prefer to stay inside, it houses movie theaters, spas, showers, and a four-story slide.
Business Insider editor Jennifer Polland visited last month and wrote: "I recently spent several hours in the airport during a trip to Singapore. The bottom line: This is a place where you'll actually enjoy having a long layover."
This year, it won high marks for security, immigration processing, leisure options, and cleanliness.

Nigerians bag 3rd Largest Spenders In The UK, Beats Russia & America

Nigerians accounted for four percent of shopping in the United Kingdom in February, spending an average of 628 pounds per transaction. The Nigerian share of UK’s spending may on the surface sound insignificant, but it has shot Nigerians ahead of Russians. The Nigerians according to latest statistics by Global Blue were the third biggest spenders after the Middle East Arabs and Chinese.

Russians now occupy the fourth place, though they also account for an average of four percent of UK shopping. Russian spending in British shops fell by 17 percent last month compared to February 2013, according to tax-free shopping statistics out today. Spending by Nigerians however declined by 8 per cent in the month under review. Visitors from Russia spent an average £669 ($1,103, 800 euros) per transaction, according to Global Blue, seeing them overtaken in third place by those from Nigeria compared to 12 months ago. Spending by Russian visitors was up 16 percent for the year in 2013 but fell in February 2014

5 THINGS YOU NEED TO STOP DOING IF YOU WANT TO LIVE LONG

Culled from trent
These actions of yours are causing you to cut the years off your life

There are certain actions you do on a daily basis that are helping to prolong your life. At the same time, there are some that are causing you to cut the years off your life. It’s time to stop doing them, and focus on the good things. Here are five of the actions that you really need to bring a stop to now!

1. SITTING THROUGHOUT THE DAY
You may not have a choice with your job, but it’s really important to sit for as little as possible. Studies have shown that those who sit for more than three hours a day do more damage to their health, and damage that regularexercise cannot help combat against.
Those who sit for 11 hours or more a day for three years increase their chances of dying sooner by 40%.

2. NOT SOCIALISING ENOUGH
Having friends is a good thing. Not only does it make you feel better, but it will also help you live longer. If you don’t socialise with your friends that much, you start to feel depressed and anxious, and that can cause your lifespan to shorten.
In fact, some studies have shown that not socialising is just as bad as smoking 15 cigarettes every day.

3. WATCHING TV
If you watch more than two hours a day, you’re not doing yourself any favours. First of all, it’s encouraging you to sit more. Second of all, it’s not good for the brain. While the programs may be documentaries, you’re causing achemical imbalance.
You’re also making it harder to chew your food because you’re not thinking about it, so you end up eating more and quicker and this causes problems for your heart and overall health. You can also end up eating more junk food, so you end up gaining more weight.

4. YOU DON’T HAVE A JOB
You may be struggling to find work, and this isn’t here to scare you.
The truth is that not actually having a job can cause your lifespan to shorten. There are so many benefits to your overall health and mental health by being in work. If you keep looking for a job, consider opting for part-time work to at least get yourself started. You could even opt for self-employment; you never know what will happen!

5. YOUR SLEEPING PATTERN IS OFF
The body needs sleep. It needs it to relax, recover and improve the memory. Sleeping allows the brain to process everything that has happened, and get ready for the next day. It helps with storing important facts and then pushing important ones through the subconscious.
If you don’t sleep enough, your body doesn’t get the chance to do all this. However, you need to avoid oversleeping. This can lead to fatigue, so you don’t get enough exercise.

Getting around eight hours sleep a night is just right. Your body doesn’t need any more unless you are ill. Getting more or less and you run the risk of shortening your life span.

LASU gets 4000 Pounds British Council Research Award

The British Council has recently awarded the Lagos State University (LASU), 4000 Pounds research grant through the Researchers’ Link Scheme to investigate the mechanism through which physical activities affects changes in the ageing of the brain.  According to Professor Benjamin Aribisala, a Professor of Computer Science in LASU, through whom the award was granted to LASU, the award will allow for collaboration between himself and Dr. Alan Gow of Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom, to combine their expertise in Computer Science, Medical Image Analysis, Statistics, Epidemiology, Psychology and Cognitive Ageing to conduct the clinical research.

According to him, “The focus of this study is to examine how levels and changes in physical activities are associated with brain changes in older adults. This requires a multidisciplinary approach”.
“As we age, there is a general reduction in the volume of grey matter (the thinking cells of the brain), and the integrity of the white matter (the wiring that connects different brain regions) also declines. The extent to which these declines occur varies across individuals and is associated with cognitive ageing-decline in memory, speed of thinking and reasoning”, he added.
He concluded that researchers are therefore interested in identifying factors that might reduce or at least delay these deleterious changes in the human brain.
Speaking on the importance of the study, the Professor opined that it could reduce the costs of health services for the care of the elderly, and may also help identify intervention targets, so that older adults can continue to live and function independently.
The study is expected to commence in June, 2014 and be completed by March, 2015 with the result published in International Journals with high impact factor.

Another missing ₦35bn uncovered afresh by Reps

According to a report by Punch, the House of Reps yesterday March 13th uncovered another missing N35billion. Read the full report below...
More revelations by the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts indicated on Thursday that the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation could not account for N35bn it collected from the Service Wide Vote within nine years.

While the records of the Budget Office of the Federation showed that the OHSF received N52bn between 2004 and 2012, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Remi Adelakun, admitted only N17.6bn.
The committee, which is chaired by Mr. Solomon Olamilekan, insisted on Thursday that Adelakun must explain how the N35bn was spent.
At Thursday’s session, the permanent secretary and officials of the budget office had disagreed over how much the latter released to the OHSF.

The records of the budget office showed that in 2004, the OHSF received N2.7bn; N9.8m in 2005; N701.7m in 2006; N896.3m in 2007; N5.3bn in 2008 and another N612.9m; and N70m in 2009.
For 2010, the figure was N17.6bn; in 2011, it was N13.6bn and N8.5bn in 2012.
However, the OHSF admitted the N17.6bn released in 2010.

Olamilekan ruled that the permanent secretary must produce documents on how the balance of over N35bn was utilised within two weeks.

In a separate case, the committee directed the Central Bank of Nigeria to refund the N1.015bn it spent in 2007 to print 65 million ballot papers for that year’s presidential election.
The committee stated that there were “double payments” for the ballot papers, which it said the bank could not explain adequately.

Although the Director, Corporate Services, CBN, Mr. Dipo Fatokun, who represented the bank, denied the alleged double payments, the committee insisted that the bank made contradictory submissions.

Fatokun said, “There was no double payment. When we first appeared before the committee, we did not check our records very well and that was why we thought there were double payments.”

Top 10 ranking - Highest And Richest Footballers In The World 2014

Cristiano Ronaldo was today named the world’s richest footballer after topping the annual list of players’ net worth compiled by global football media title Goal.com.

The Real Madrid forward just held off Barcelona rival Lionel Messi in the Goal Rich List 2014 with an estimated wealth of €148 million. Ronaldo has enjoyed a remarkable 12 months in which his value to club and country has been never been more evident.

He scored all four goals as Portugal beat Sweden in the World Cup play-offs, landed the 2013 Ballon d’Or and signed a record-breaking new five-year deal with Madrid.

Messi, who lost his Ballon d’Or crown to Ronaldo in January, came in second after inspiring Barcelona to the Spanish title and signing up for a range of lucrative endorsements.

The Goal Rich List is collated by a team of analysts and takes into account all streams of revenue for active footballers over the course of their careers. Ronaldo succeeds David Beckham who led the way in the 2013 Goal Rich List but called time on his playing career in May 2013.

Only current professionals are eligible with the earnings of more than 200 contenders assessed before Goal’s experts finalised on their selection.

Wayne Rooney makes the top four on the list following Manchester United’s decision to offer him the biggest contract in British football history, worth €365,000 a week. Neymar’s controversial transfer to Barcelona sees him rise sharply in the standings to sixth, with his parents’ €40m ‘compensation’ payment included in Goal’s figures due to its game-changing significance. The rest of the list is made up of global superstars, who have accrued huge wealth over significant spells at the top of the professional game. Chelsea’s Samuel Eto’o is at number three, ahead of Rooney, thanks largely to the millions he earned at Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, with Kaka, Ronaldinho, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gianluigi Buffon and Thierry Henry completing the top 10.

Goal Rich List 2014 – Top 10

1. Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid €148m (£122m)

2. Lionel Messi, Barcelona €146m (£120.5m)

3. Samuel Eto’o, Chelsea €85m (£70m)

Who Stole ₦38.23billion At Nigeria’s Central Bank?

To avoid passing on a key issue of the audit-proved theft of ₦38.23 billion at the Central Bank of Nigeria – uncovered by the Financial Reporting Council (F.R.C) - longish editorials were gaily written by broad sheet journalists in Nigeria as off-ramp....

The writers, for the most part, obliquely avoided this theft issue by conflating it with a totally un-related matter of suspected but yet un-investigated and un-proved scam at the national oil company (NNPC). But when stripped of its pretentious fighting words - signifying nothing – those editorials are but devious escape routes journalists fled through in pretext.

The actual facts, as follows, however remain cast in stone. The F.R.C had firstly confronted the Governor of Central Bank at the time (Sanusi Lamido Sanusi) on this ₦38.23 billion missing in CBN accounts. Sanusi Lamido reflexively chose to weasel out of it in writing to the auditors.

Sanusi Lamido admitted a shortfall of ₦38.23 billion but said he gave the money to MINT; a subsidiary company owned substantially by the Central Bank of Nigeria - but having two other minority shareholders, one based in France. The F.R.C audit surveyors smelled rat and followed the scent. They took the initiative and checked on Sanusi Lamido’s alibi. Eureka, they discovered from MINT’s books of accounts that Sanusi Lamido lied.

Mother sells three-day-old baby for N260,000 in Akwa Ibom

According to a report by Punch, a nursing mother in Akwa Ibom named Imaobong Udoh (pictured above) has been arrested for allegedly selling her 3-day old baby girl for N260,000. Full report below
Also arrested along with Imaobong were four persons for allegedly participating in the theft of the baby.
They are the buyer, Mrs. Regina James; her husband, Mfon James; the traditional birth attendant who delivered the baby, Mrs. Comfort Henry; and Mr Emmanuel Okon, a homeopathic doctor, who arranged the sale.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Gwadabe, said in Uyo on Monday that the father of the baby had reported the theft to the police, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
Gwadabe said, “On March 3, 2014, a case of child stealing was reported by Mr. Eteobong James, of No. 33 Urua Ekpa Road, Itu Local Governmnet Area, to the police, where a three-day-old baby girl was sold for N260, 000.

“Based on the report, the suspects were arrested.
“Mr Emmanuel Etim Okon, was the one that arranged the infamous deal and personally conveyed the baby from the point of delivery at Nna-Enin in Uruan Local Government Area to the buyers at No. 37 Church Road, Uyo.”

The police boss explained that Regina allegedly paid N150,000 to the mother of the baby and N110,000 to Okon, the homeopathic doctor, for his services.

The commissioner stated that the accused would soon be arraigned in court and warned child thieves to steer clear of the state.
He explained that the state would not be conducive for their illicit trade.

Husband of the buyer, James, who spoke with PUNCH METRO said when his wife told him she was pregnant, he gave her money for ante-natal care, but was surprised to hear that she bought the baby.
He said, “l am a trader. My wife, Regina, told me she was pregnant and I gave her money for ante-natal. One day, she told me she was in labour and later informed me that she had been delivered of a baby girl.

“I did not know she bought the baby since she has given birth to four children, though three died.”
However, the homeopathic doctor said Regina brought the mother of the baby, Imaobong, to him so that he could take care of her during ante-natal.
He said Regina had explained to him that the father of the baby was not financially buoyant to take care of her.

He denied collecting N110,000 from Regina, stating that he only collected N30,000, which was the cost of delivery of Imaobong’s baby.
“When Regina brought Imaobong to me, she told me that the man responsible for the pregnancy was unable of take care of her.

“The N30,000 I collected from her was for the upkeep of Imaobong before and during delivery of the baby. I did not collect N110,000.”

I don’t have foreign bank accounts – GEJ

President Goodluck Jonathan has disclosed that he does not own any bank account or property outside the country, adding that all his kids live and school on the shores of Nigeria.
His revelation came few days after the United States ordered a freeze on $458 million in assets stolen by former Nigerian dictator, Sani Abacha and his accomplices. The stolen funds were hidden in European accounts.

Jonathan however made the remark during the swearing-in of 11 new Ministers yesterday.

His words as tweeted by his Special Assistant on New Media, Reno Omokri, @renoomokri, “I am loyal to Nigeria’s economy. I don’t have accounts or property abroad. All my children live and school in Nigeria”
Nigeria former leaders have severally come under heavy attacks for slashing stolen money in foreign accounts and owning expensive property abroad.
