NOLLYWOOD ACTRESSES SOURCE OF INCOME ARE QUESTIONABLE - Comedian Ali Baba

 

Ace Nigerian comedian, Ali Baba in a viral video was seen questioning actresses about their source of income.

In the video, Ali Baba whose real name is Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome stated that most actresses are not honest with how they amass their wealth, reprimanding them, he cautioned them to desist from tormenting young women who are working tirelessly to make ends meet.

The comedian alleged that most top actresses who live extravagant lifestyles are sponsored by wealthy men; he added that there are few veteran female thespians who have been able to make enough money to acquire a house in Lekki.

Sharing a personal encounter with an actress who he claims accompanied a top individual to Dubai, he wrote;

”You are an actress, how many movies have you done that gave you N45 million to buy a house. You that just joined the industry.
“The people that have been in the industry did not buy.”

He spoke further;

“We went to Dubai one time and while we were waiting, I see this actress comes in and I had seen the protocol officer of a particular person.

“I greeted them and they greeted me and the person came and said ‘here is your key”.

“He gave her the key and she went upstairs.

Then two days later I see her posting ”lounging in Dubai” Can you buy your ticket? The ones that do business and make money we know them…You come and be putting girls on high jump.”

I AM A PLAYBOY, BUT I DON’T BREAK HEART - Fireboy

 

Award-winning Afrobeats star, Fireboy, has revealed that his new album 'Playboy' shouldn't be misconstrued as him being a heart breaker. Details: The 'Peru' crooner appeared on Apple Music Africa Now Radio hosted by celebrated on air personality Dada Boy Ehiz. While discussing the context of his new album, Fireboy revealed that naming his album 'Playboy' doesn't suggest that he's gallivanting his way through different women while breaking their hearts in the process.

He revealed that the name tag was an attempt to showcase himself as an artist and a man coming out of his shell and letting his guards down.

"I want to put out a disclaimer that it’s not the kind of playboy you think, or what everybody thinks… not a playboy that breaks your heart, this is just a young man that is starting to come out of his shell to play, express himself, have fun, to experience life, to step into his superstar element." Fireboy said about the choice to call his album 'Playboy'.

Fireboy also revealed that since he entered the limelight in 2019, his life has been conditioned by the standards set for superstars like himself. With 'Playboy', he wishes to enjoy his fame and success, and for the first time live life on his terms.

"I’ve been shying away from it the past couple of years. The past three years of my career I’ve been a blown, established artist so I think it’s time for me to just step out and actually enjoy the fame that I’ve worked for over the past two years."

'Playboy' was released Friday, 5th August 2022, making it Fireboy's third album in four years. Fans and critics have hailed the album for its subtlety, digestibility, and comprehensiveness.

 

I HAD TO SHUT DOWN MY MUSIC CAREER BECAUSE MENTALLY, I WAS GONE - Singer Iyanya reveals

Nigerian recording artiste, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk who is better known by his stage pseudonym, Iyanya explained in a new interview session with media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Rubbin’ Minds on Channels TV that the constant demand from the music industry made him take a break.

The entertainer left the music industry for four years to re-attain his maximum self and rid himself from dealing with the complexities of trolls on social media, record label conflict and creating hits.

The 2011 Project Fame winner in 2016 entered a well-publicized feud with Made Made Music Group (Triple MG) founder and music executive, Ubi Franklin following a contract dispute.

He signed a deal with Don Jazzy’s Mavins record label before he left a year later.

Speaking about his mental health relapse and recovery in a new session with Ebuka, the ‘Kukere’ crooner stated;

“With hits come pressure; the ups and the downs. Fans don’t see that. But you as an artiste have to tell yourself the truth, take some time off, and do what’s right. It was very intentional for me to leave and come back better”

He added;

“For me, I wasn’t ready for all of that. I knew I was going to be famous but I didn’t realise it was going to be that huge. The effects on me weren’t so good at some point. Yeah, of course. [It was a toxic time for me.

“If you’re not careful, it could break you. It was crazy, mentally and otherwise. When you become a version of yourself that you don’t like, you have to take some time away. It was for about three to four years.

“I had to shut down. I lost my mind. Mentally, I was gone. If I didn’t, I won’t be here today. Ubi Franklin and I made up a long time ago but we didn’t say so on social media. The issues that made us fall apart don’t exist anymore.”

He continued;

“I was young and everything happened so fast. Now I know you have to listen to people, especially those giving you advise for growth. Yeah, [I’m in a different headspace. And I’m more mature.”

The singer has since rejoined Ubi Franklin’s Triple MG and they have reconciled and put aside their differences.

Nigerian entertainment polymath, Abdulrasheed Bello who is better known as JJC Skillz has written about moving forward with his life after his marriage to actress-cum-politician, Funke Akindele crashed.

The estranged couple welcomed a set of twins together prior to the shocking announcement by JJC Skillz‘s on his Instagram platform a couple of weeks ago.

Since JJC’s announcement, Funke Akindele who has remained silent about her marital woes has preferred to talk about her Oscar award invitation and emergence as the running mate to Lagos Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 gubernatorial candidate, Olajide Adediran.

In his recent post, JJC Skillz mentioned that sometimes one has to walk the road alone.

The leader of the now defunct JJC & 419 Squad added that he was not afraid because God walks with him.

'MY MUSIC IS NOT AFROBEATS' - Burna Boy

Nigerian singer and Grammy Award winner, Burna Boy, has clarified that his style of music is called Afrofusion, and not Afrobeats as assumed by fans.

Burna Boy who spoke about his genre of music during the latest episode of The Million Dollar Worth of Game podcast said because the music genre comes from Africa, doesn’t automatically make it Afrobeats.

Speaking on why he calls it Afrofusion, Burna stated that he decided to call his style of music Afrofusion because it’s a fusion of everything and the Afro-Africaness is the thing that covers it.

He also said Africa has so many genres of music, adding that generalising it all as Afrobeats is a “disservice to other artists” in other genres.

“For me it’s like the same way you’re going to say Nas is an R&B singer because he’s from America or Whitney Houston was a rapper because rap is the most popping thing now,” he said.
