WWE LEGENDS HULK HOGAN & THE UNDERTAKER TO STORM LAGOS FOR AMBODE’S ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY

In a continuation of the Lagos state government’s drive towards using sports as a tool for development, plans are underway to mark the first anniversary of Governor Akinwumi Ambode with an intercontinental professional wrestling championship.
According to reports, the Nigerian Wrestling Federation have concluded plans to fly in the wrestling legend and his colleague, Undertaker, for the A+A Intercontinental Wrestle Force – which is one of the activities lined up to mark the governor’s one year in office.
Put together by the Nigerian Wrestling Federation (NWF) in alliance with the Current World Wrestling Federation, wrestlers from different parts of the world would be in Lagos to participate in the event that will hold in 14 centres in the three senatorial districts of Lagos.
In the words of the NWF’s president, Prince Olarenwaju Mohammed, the federation is glad to invite the wrestling legend, who also said he’s willing to visit Lagos.
“We have invited renowned wrestling champion, Hulk Hogan and Undertaker to be part of the show. Hogan specifically told us that he would like to come to Lagos once in his lifetime to see how the city looks like,” he said.
Continuing, he said, ‘The reason we are having the championship in multiple centres is to bring wrestling closer to the people at the grassroots. We want our people to see those wrestling stars who they normally watch on television live at their domain.
‘These centres include Epe, Alimosho, Badagry, Ojo, Ikorodu, Ikeja, Ifako Ijaiye, Agboyi Ketu, Eti Osa, Oshodi Isolo, Yaba-Mainland, Lagos Island, Surulere, while the grand finale will hold in Agege,” he said.
NWF president, Prince Olarenwaju Mohammed said the first-of-its kind event is a projection of the good governance of Ambode’s administration to the outside world.
“Our plan is to project Lagos to the outside world that the state is peaceful despite all the negative reports in the international media. I always tell people that we cannot quantify the benefits of staging international competitions in our community like the recently held Lagos City Marathon.
The Publicity Committee will embark on a series of events to bring awareness to the show which is slated for May.

MADNESS OR STYLE?: Meet the bride who turned up to her wedding in a closed coffin

COFFINS are usually reserved for the dead – but one has played a part in a very special day for the living.
For it was Jenny Buckleff's vehicle of choice to transport her to meet her groom on her wedding day.

58-year-old Jenny Buckleff surprised guests when she showed up in a coffin adorned with a grim reaper for her own wedding. She got married to Christopher Lockett, 51 of Stoke-On-Trent in Wales. The  ecstatic new bride had the coffin bike driven in honour of his brother, a bike lover.

Jenny, a former parlour worker and qualified embalmer and a current employee of BET365 - a betting company, said. 'I just wanted to do something a little bit different! Instead of turning up in a horse-drawn cart, I thought I'm going to turn up in a coffin.
She said she did it because she wanted to be a different. In her words; ‘I just wanted to do something a little bit different. Instead of turning up in a horse-drawn cart, I thought I’m going to turn up in a coffin.” Her groom wasn’t in support at first, but she was able to convince him to reason with her.
According to her she almost didn’t tell husband Chris but in the end she spilled the beans about three weeks before. He was a bit surprised but he said as long as she was happy he would go with the flow.
Although the pair gave lots of wedding guests a shock, they said they were pleased to have had such a talking point at the wedding.
I almost didn't tell Chris but in the end I spilled the beans about three weeks before.
'He was a bit surprised but he said as long as I was happy he would go with the flow.
'What more could I ask for from a new husband?!
Jenny's daughter, Jade Meads, 27, said: 'The coffin (pictured) was a bit strange, but my mum is never normal. I thought she was joking at first.'

VETERAN ACTOR LEONARDO DICAPRIO REACTS TO 5TH OSCAR NOMINATION

www.wifemedia.blogspot.comThe 41-yr-old actor has made it clear that winning the Oscar award would be an "icing on the cake" as he has worked as hard as he possibly could.
Hollywood actor, Leonardo DiCaprio, has spoken up on his 5th Oscar nomination following the role in the new hit movie, Revenant.
The 41-yr-old actor has made it clear that winning the Oscar award would be an "icing on the cake" as he has worked as hard as he possibly could.
Speaking on the role he played in the movie with This Morning, DiCaprio revealed that:

"I do know that it’s completely beyond my control at this point. It’s interesting, because that’s not why you do the work, you know? You do the work because you love making movies and you want to look back and have a filmography that you’re proud of.
"When you’re on set you have to give everything that you possibly can while you’re there but of course being recognized by your peers and all that other stuff that happens is kind of the cherry on the cake so to speak.
"But all the work from me has been done, I’ve done everything I could possibly do, so it’s all up to you to decide whether it's worthy of being seen or talked about or awarded."

Going by the reviews that the movie has garnered since its release, we believe the actor might be well set up to receive the award.

CHRISTIANO RONALDO PREPARES FOR LIFE AFTER FOOTBALL

Time waits for no man, and Cristiano Ronaldo has begun preparing for life after football as he announced his investment in four hotels that will bear his name.
The €75million plan will see four hotels built in a partnership with Portugal’s biggest hotel chain, Pestana, with the first scheduled to be opened this summer in Funchal, Madeira.
As the city’s most famous export, Ronaldo’s return to the island will take advantage of his image by being located near the Cristiano Ronaldo museum and the bronze statue of him found in the Praça do Mar.
The others will be built in Lisbon, Madrid and - interestingly - New York, the only city of the three in which Ronaldo has never lived or played.
With the obvious interest in expanding his global brand (why else invest in a hotel chain, after all?) and an eye on the American market, a move to Major League Soccer has long been mooted for Ronaldo.Already fluent in English, he’d be a perfect fit for an MLS franchise looking to make a splash and the New York clubs will now be licking their lips in anticipation of a property near Times Square bearing his name and providing a whole raft of new commercial opportunities.
Ronaldo’s move, assuming it comes this summer, is almost certain to be to Paris or Manchester and thus a move Stateside would still be two or three years in the distance.
Business ventures like this though, away from football, suggest he is looking beyond his playing days - something he admitted.
“My job is to play football but life won’t always be like this," he said. "I have to dedicate myself to this new project and I have the best team in the world around me to help.
Cristiano Ronaldo looks beyond his football career after launching new hotel chain
“A person like me, I’m a fighter, ambitious and always striving for more.
“I am young but I feel  very fulfilled, so this project is exciting for me because my roots are in Madeira and this is where the first hotel will be.”
It’s not likely to be a project that distracts from Cristiano’s commitments in the game, and his significant and all-encompassing entourage will help ensure that he doesn’t need to be too involved on a day-to-day basis.
That said, the Portugal skipper claimed he “likes to know” about the things he’s involved in and “will be present as much as possible.”Excerpts from the recent Anthony Wonke biopic Ronaldo played ahead of the announcement in Lisbon, a film where the importance of family and, in particular, his son to Ronaldo is made abundantly clear.
So it was no surprise to hear them mentioned as he reiterated that this step was about looking past the end of his playing days and into retirement:
“I’m thinking about my future, and my son and my family,” he said.

“This will be very important in my life but we are ambitious together, we must seize this unique moment.”

STAR ACTRESS, SHAN GEORGE IN AUTO CRASH

Another calamity in the Nigerian entertainment industry was averted a couple of days ago as star actress, Shan George survived an auto crash that would have claimed her life.
As man always propose and God dispose, it was Shan George’s plan to make a stopover at Asaba for a movie job before proceeding to Lagos the next day, sadly, Shan ended her journey on hospital bed.
The unfortunate mishap happened on Enugu/Onitsha expressway, and AWW reliably gathered that the screen goddess was driving from Calabar to Asaba when a speeding Toyota Camry left its lane and rammed into the driver’s side of her white- coloured Toyota Rav4.

Moreover, while the ageless actress was battling with her life during the car crash, AWW scooped that petite thieves took the advantage and robbed her of valuable belongings.   Though, the gifted actress cum producer who expected to be discharged in a couple of days, left leg was injured, she is still in shock!
Recounting the ghastly incident, Shan George who has been full of praises to God for sparing her life to tell the story, said, “I’m still awe of God’s goodness. The impact was directly on my side of the car yet I’m not carrying any major injury. Nigerians are really wonderful people, abandoned their businesses as to help out at the accident scene. The traffic department of police in Enugu handled the case very well and we are all good.
“My car is already being fixed as I recuperate from the shock. I’m begging Federal government to fix interstates roads. Some of us hate flying, I vomit whenever I’m in plane, also, driving is my passion,” she concluded.
