Soundcity MVP Awards Nominees (Full List)

Soundcity, one of Africa's leading entertainment companies has announced the nominees for the third edition of its award show, Soundcity MVP Awards. Some of your favourite acts have been nominated.
In 2019, The Soundcity MVP Music Awards introduced the special recognitions and non-voting award presentations in multiple categories including Special recognitions in Business Entrepreneurship; Sports; Fashion; Social Entrepreneurship/Digital Influence; Community/Socio-political development; and Creative Arts.  This edition award ceremony itself will hold on January 11, 2020 in the city of Lagos.

Since the awards’ inception in 2017, Soundcity MVP Awards have delivered performances and appearances by artists as Cassper Nyovest, Navy Kenzo, Jidenna, Busiswa, Sarkodie, Davido, Patoranking, M.I. Abaga, Emtee, Kizz Daniel, Tiwa Savage, and many others.

The nominations list for the fourth edition of the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival which was first announced across the Soundcity Radio Network with voting now open to the public.

According to Mr. Tajuddeen Adepetu, Executive producer of the Soundcity MVPs, “Current estimates show that the 2020 Soundcity MVPs telecast which will be aired live across the continent on Saturday, January 11th on the Soundcity TV channel DSTV 327 to an anticipated 25 million viewers across the continent”.

The event producer, Mr. Adeniji Daniel Adedeji says that, "This year’s edition of the Soundcity MVPs promises to bring our fans the best performances from the hottest musical acts on the continent. Also in the bag of surprises will be international show hosts, unexpected collaborations and buzzworthy pop culture moments that will definitely have the world talking for a long time to come…”

Born as Mercy Oluwapelumi Olatunji on the 5th of August, an Ogun state indigene, She is the third of four children.
She penned her first song at the age of 10 and began singing at the age of 10 with the help of her father. While growing up, mercy developed interest in music while listening to songs by ASA.
As a result of passion for music she had the dream of attending the peterkings college of music in 2011 which she enrolled for in the year 2018.
Mercy who is not yet a signed artist as always learnt to find her way through with the help of her supporting family.

Started music from childhood, my father loves music and he sometimes put us through musical exercises. Yes truly I had  the passion for music from childhood and always read through musical  books but will say I started  understanding the real music in the year 2018 from the knowledge and all I learnt at the Peterkings college of music.

Wow, I thank GOD for the day I met with my uncle whom I do always call my father as well. He owns the label ( FOBIT ENTERTAINMENT), I have been sending him several songs for him to listen to but due to his other business he has been taking care because my uncle does not joke with time , time is money for him but  i never stopped sending until i actually got his attention and since then he has grew more interest in me , he has given me all the attention since then he never stopped supporting in every way. Fobit  Entertainment is a new label, with a promising future in the industry. we are all out to identify the star in every crowd and bring them out to the world. We move as a team and trust on Good to keep bringing out the best in us. we at fobit entertainment are into  entertainment generally. we are not only focused on music.

"My experience with SARS officers was not palatable. I got arrested by "SARS" few days after my mums birthday party.

In his own words, ‘Nigeria is blessed with good people, but corruption has crept deeply into the system of governance in this country, their is indeed no justice in the world at large. Those guys know the truth but just sought for a way to rip us off.

They exploited us. We are a family of celebrities. And they came to arrest my mum who knows nothing about a tout that was shot on the leg after the party. Rumour spreading fast is that the tout obstructed one of the celebrity guests and tried to rob him, unknown to the attacker, he turned out to become a victim of the well equipped star. Up until this moment, no one can figure out who exactly fired the gunshot.
Lanre Afod AKA B’luvd who is just signed to GMXSTUDIOZ an Australian based record label, had to pay for hospital bills and went through a lot of unfriendly treatments from the police officers in order to wash his own hands clean.

In his exact words, “we only celebrated our mum: firstly, the party was over and most people had left, secondly the victim who was shot in the leg is not even an invited guest and he must have been threatening people or robbing them until the day the table was turned around to make him face the music too.”

The likes of Kemi Korede, Elemure, Fojusi, Damilare Dre, Tunde and a host others stood by the innocents throughout their maltreatment by the policemen.
