NAIRA MARLEY BREAKS SILENCE ON FUNKE AKINDELE’S CASE

Popular musician, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has broken silence on his arrest and arraignment by the Lagos Government for violating restriction orders.
Naira Marley and a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Babatunde Gbadamosi, were arrested for flouting the COVID-19 lockdown order.
They were among guests that attended the 42nd birthday party organized by Funke Akindele at Amen Estate on Sunday for her husband, JJC Skillz.
However, the Defence Counsel, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), on Tuesday, withdrew the four counts filed against Naira Marley and Gbadamosi.
The charges were withdrawn on the condition that the defendants would tender an apology to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Speaking on the development, Marley in a post on his Twitter page, said henceforth, he will listen to the government and offer full support.
His tweet read: “Snitches on Twitter will get you arrested and still want you to fight the government for them.
“From now on it’s just Marlians only. Let’s all listen to the government and give them our full support.”
Recall that Funke and her husband, JJC were on Monday, sentenced after they pleaded guilty to hosting an event that had over twenty persons in attendance.
The offence was contrary to the social distancing directives made in pursuant to Regulation 8(1)(a) and (b) & 17(1)(i) of the Lagos State Infectious Disease (Emergency Prevention) Regulations 2020.

‘YOU MUST ACCOUNT FOR EVERY KOBO’ – DAVIDO TO ACCOUNTANT GENERALS

Popular Nigerian singer, Davido has reacted to the fire incident at the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation in Abuja.
DAILY POST had reported that some rooms at the office of the AGF at the Treasure House Abuja caught fire on Wednesday morning.
Firefighters have put out the inferno but the cause is still unknown.
There have been insinuations that the inferno is suspicious, especially at a time when huge financial contributions were made to the government to support the fight against Coronavirus.
Recall that after Nigeria confirmed its first case of COVID-19, many wealthy Nigerians and the private sector made donations publicly to assist the government.
The account was set up under the Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19.
Davido, whose father contributed to the relief fund took to his Twitter page demanding that the government accounts for each kobo spent.
His post read: “Make dem return our money oh, which one be say office don burn.
“They must account for each kobo.”

GOV. SANWO-OLU SHOULD SHOW FATHERLY LOVE TO NOLLYWOOD ACTRESS FUNKE AKINDELE

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, has appealed to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu, to grant state pardon to popular actress and Nollywood icon, Mrs. Funke Akindele-Bello.

While speaking with journalists in court today at Ogba, after the proceedings that terminated the charges brought against Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi and Azeez Fashola (Naira Marley), the human rights activist stated that since the state made the case in court yesterday that it was not out to persecute citizens, Akindele should be granted reprieve, moreso that she has demonstrated remorse for her conduct.
He stated that since the federal government is granting amnesty to 2,600 prisoners, the Governor should emulate this good gesture and show fatherly love to the Bellos.
This should also be extended to all those arrested for jogging on the streets, as they could not have all set out deliberately to disobey the COVID-19 Regulation,” Adegboruwa said.
The senior lawyer added that “since we are facing a novel situation at hand, government should show some magnanimity to its citizens, as is being done all over the world.
“Nigerians have never been locked down for this long, without food or money and it is not proper to add to their woes with arrest and prosecution.”
He commended the steps so far taken by the government and urged all Nigerians to continue to cooperate with the government to end the scourge.
Funke Akindele was arrested on Monday after staging a birthday party for her husband, JJC Skillz.
The couple later pleaded guilty at a Lagos Magistrates Court and were sentenced to community service and fined 100,000 each.
